[ at first riddle is worried that perhaps his apology isn't sufficient, or maybe he overstepped. after some prompting from trey, riddle realized how cruel his words must have sounded, maybe even doubly so because he's supposed to be yuu's friend. the fact he's never missed being home, or missed his family for more than a day or two at most isn't an excuse. yuu can't understand what it's like to be him, but they never fail to at least be an empathetic, caring shoulder for him to lean against. ]

for once, riddle says nothing, and as awkward as he feels doing it, he wraps his arms around yuu's middle and gives them the hardest, most comforting squeeze he can manage. it's not that he can't think of anything to say, but rather, there's nothing that can be said. there aren't words for how sorry he is that yuu was forced to leave such a warm, happy home behind. that they're probably scared and confused more often than not. they didn't even get to say goodbye to everyone they love...
